I realized...

... how much fun weddings can be!  I road-tripped back to good ol' East Texas last weekend, helping setup for my dad's wedding and to see that huge group of people I call my family. And oh was it adventurous! As my brother and I made the journey from Tyler to Winsboro, passing by country courthouse protestors and police cars full of officers rockin' those cowboy hats, we knew we were deep in the heart of some good country fun! After a few hours of putting in some hard work, we headed out to "The Saloon", the only alcohol worthy, country two steppin' country bar in the dry town. But damn me for having one more year to legally drink. So I sipped on those sugar-full Dr. Peppers while I designated the rest of the table's alcohol fun times.

After  a little more hard work, some interesting Tex-Mex food, and some dancing fun at the bed and breakfast, we finally made it to the wedding day. Thank God for my fun liberal family, I love that when asked to say "I Do" my dad and his new wife busted out with "Fo Sho's" and "Hellllls yeah!" for their answers. Now that is just some awesomeness in itself. Anyways, we enjoyed some "cake balls" and after a few attempts with my new step sister to push my younger brother in the pool, it was a good weekend!

2 more weeks of this hell-hole university, studying, work, and living with my stripper roommate left, and I get to spend the summer applying to art schools and hanging out with old friends, family, and our Hawaii trip in August, yay!

Once, I wanted to be the greatest....

"Rich people can be eccentric. The rest of us can be weird."
- Frank Zuppo

Another one of my favorite quotes ever. I discovered my old xanga site (anyone else remember xanga, before the myspaces and facebooks of the world appeared!) and found an entry from 2004 with this quote. Brought me back a little!

Weird is fun, and we all need fun in our lives, right?!

I'm working on applying to art schools in the next few weeks, wish me luck!

Now go out and do something weird. And have fun! Life is too short to be boring.

can't stop moving...

I was reminded today of how much I love this song/video

Thank you Limited Too/Justice, for at least playing one partially decent song in the year that i've worked there.
Call me corny, but i think it's so inspiring in a cute way. Always puts me in a good mood!

I hope everyone is having/had a wonderful Easter holiday!

I shall never grow up,

make believe is much too fun <33

There is a homeless man. This man got a job wearing a Liberty Statue costume for the Liberty Tax company by interstate. I drove by today and tried to take video of him dancing, but my light was green :[

He spends all day dancing and trying to get the 18 wheelers to honk, and if they don't he flips them off.

It is so my goal to capture his awesome-ness on video. He entertains me so much!

I am officially a creeeeeep! Haha. I love random people, they make me believe in the beauty of life sometimes.

On another note, my goal for the week is to start appyling for art schools, UNT isn't working out for me. Any good suggestions?

Megan is my name, fashion merchandising in my game. <33

Lakes...

Oh Lake Dallas, you entertain me

So, as my friend Laura and I were pondering our college boredom, sitting by the phone waiting to see if my work needed my on call today, we decided to adventure out to Lake Dallas, having neither of us been before. And, well, it sure was quite interesting!

Best thing of the day? The lake sits right behind an RV park. No lie.

As we layed out, glancing at the waves before us, we couldn't help but notice two men in their pickup trucks sitting, glancing our way. Trying to ignore the creepiness, we frollicked across the "beach" part, drawing in the sand beautiful things such as our names, birds, fake penises...oh you know, just the usual! After about 30 minutes the creepy rednecks finally revved  up their fancy Texas trucks and proceeded to find some other girls to creep on, we only guess. Feeling a little more adventurous, we walked to the other side of the lake, where the marina sat with boats docked, and noticed two couples sitting out by the lake. In track suits, hoodies, and long sleeves everything. We were in bikinis.

Oh Texas, my Texas, you provide me with trailer parks, lakes, and playgrounds all in one area.
How may I ever repay you?

The little 12 year old came out of my 20 year old body last night.

My friend Chelsea asked me to go see Britney Spears with her, and...wow....AMAZING show!
Now, don't get me wrong, the girl isn't known for her live singing ability. But once you put some lip syncing together with some kickass choreography, light show, and circus freaks.

That is some DAMN good entertainment.

The Pussycat Dolls was her opening act, and I was very surprised at their ability to sing and dance at the same time. Nicole ( i think that's her last name...googling right now) hit every perfect pitch while busting out her little pussycat doll moves. I grew to actually appreciate their talent a little more than I had before.

All in all, it was a very nice change of pace from my usual laid back scene. Sometimes you just need to shake your ass and see a good show.

I included a little video, not the best quality but the choreography was killer.

I hope you're all having a good week!

Sober Thoughts For A Lonely Mind

I miss that. A lot.
I sometimes wonder what's stopping me from getting in my car, forgetting about school, and just running away. Especially today. I begged and pleaded for the support to go to school anywhere near the ocean, and all I received was a big shut down from my father. Yet, now he supports his almost step-daughter who did the same damn thing I wanted to do?

I feel as though I've been shutting down my happiness for everyone else. I came to Denton the first time to make my family feel good about me going to school. I went back home to take care of my suicidal mother when she couldn't take care of herself. And I came back for what I thought would bring back the spark in me, but I think I'm starting to realize that I was mistaken.

Where do I go from here?

"A dark haired woman is driving the roads,
Breathing deeply, she don't mind being alone."

Oh Lord, we break so easy

faith,

So, I came home to visit for the weekend, hanging out with my mom and my best friend, and what do I get talked into doing?!

Haha.

Of course, leave it to my mother; She convinced me to get my first one, and she wanted me to partner in crime with her to get one tonight. I don't have a pic of hers yet, but it's a purple and turquoise dragonfly in the same spot, and I absolutely love it!

Anyways, I hope you all have a great weekend and be safe! <33

Cocaine flame in my bloodstream,

Okay, I've seen like 50 people coming up with these "Top 10" music lists. AAAAAND, since i'm bored and all, I figured i'd give in and make one of my own.

Hmm,

1. io (This Time Around)- Helen Stellar
Beautiful song! Anytime I need something chill and beautiful, I always put it on

2. Electric Feel - MGMT
Probably my favorite "fun" song, it always makes me want to dance! Woop.

3. Graveyard Girl- M83
The weirdest band i have ever heard, and i am completely obsessed! Their music is beautifully odd, and I can never get enough.

4. Drunk And Fucked Up - Ryan Adams
It's really hard to pick a favorite of his, but this is my favorite of the moment.
My dad and his fiancee went to see him a few months ago, and I still make them feel bad for not getting me tickets. aha.

5.  How Come/Trouble/Jolene - Ray LaMontagne
I absolutely just CAN'T pick one here, it's Ray. One day I am going to see him play live, and i'm sure it'll change my life for the better.

6. Wasted And Ready- Ben Kweller
Although it came out in '02, it gives me that "back in the '90s" feel that I always love.
I wish we had more music with that feel these days.

7. New Song- Sublime
Thank you, dad, for raising me on Sublime. "Payback's a motherfckin bitch" is just...yeah.

8. Sea of Love - Tom Waits/ Cat Power's remake version
I told everyone in my family that I wanted Cat Power's remake version for my wedding, and I still keep that promise. I don't care if I get married when i'm 97, it is still on.

9. Pumpkin Soup - Kate Nash
Another feel good song, all her songs are wonderful. This one on particular.

10. 1979 - Smashing Pumpkins
Another song I feel that i grew up listening to.  Billy Corgan's voice is love for me.

So, there we go! Let me know what ya think, and share some of your faves with me :]

This loss will be met with a hurricane of love,

"So you failed. Alright you really failed. You failed. You failed. You failed. You failed. You failed. You failed. You failed. You failed. You failed. You failed. You failed. You failed. You think I care about that? I do understand. You wanna be really great? Then have the courage to fail big and stick around. Make them wonder why you're still smiling"

- Elizabethtown

One of my favorite quotes ever.

Make everyone wonder why you're still smiling this weekend, and be safe!

oh what marvelous things,

4 followers in one day? Thanks guys! I feel adored, for real.

So, right now I am seriously hiding out in my bathroom. Why? Well, seeing as that I seriously have the weirdest roommate ever, she has decided to dance around completely naked, screaming Mariah Carey songs today, and I am just too much of a pansy to deal with it. I'm sure I will be laughing my ass off about it in a few hours anyways.

To be even weirder, I pulled out all my old Eisley EP's today. I forgot how much I loved them! I remember when they first started playing around Tyler, and my friend Sarah and I would fangirl stalk their shows like nobody's business. They are all the sweetest girls in the world though! Anyways, I'm blasting Eisley while Lonisa is jamming her little heart out to Mariah.

Maybe I should learn to use my mic and make a remix? One day, I'll learn.

What else have I learned today?
OH!
I seriously fail at waking up before 7am. I had a math test this morning, or at least I think I did. And because my phone alarm fails me, I missed it. A part of me is not sad though, seeing as how my teacher doesn't speak English anyways, and I know I am going to fail.

I need to find a math geek pronto!

Oh, you humor me today....
love, megs

the introduction to uhh...me!

Hi guys!

So, I haven't had my own real blog since my early high school days, but I thought I should give it another try. What to know about me? Well, I'm a sophomore at the University of North Texas, studying fashion merchandising and absolutely loving it. If only they could place an ocean around Denton, I would be the most content woman in the world. I'm almost 20, so I guess that qualifies me to call myself a woman now!

HA.

Hmm, what else?  I'm an absolute music geek. I'm always up for a good local show, or to be introduced to new music. If it's good, I will definitely listen to it. If I weren't studying fashion I would probably be looking towards producing music or something along those lines.

Umm, most people who know me well enough, know I am pretty much a free spirit. I do my own thing, and I am never afraid to show you my crazy side. Life's too short to be completely sober sane through it.

So, I guess here's my intro back into the Blogger world! Once I get over this exam stress filled week, I'm sure you'll be hearing a lot more from me!

you know you love me, xoxo
